DRIVERS have been warned of significant delays on the M2 following a “serious” collision involving a pedestrian last night.
A pedestrian and HGV were involved in the crash that sparked travel chaos along a stretch of motorway in Kent.


The incident unfolded on the eastbound carriageway between Junction 5, Sittingbourne, and Junction 6, Faversham, at around 8pm on November 20.
Hundreds of drivers were last night trapped in freezing conditions on the M2 following the collision, but were subsequently freed from the back.
Kent police advise the closure will remain in place until tonight for “extensive” accident investigation work.
In the latest update, National Highways said: “The M2 eastbound remains closed between J5 Sittingbourne & J6 Faversham following a serious collision.
“Closures will remain in place into the evening as police continue their investigations.”
A police spokesman said: “Drivers are warned of significant delays on the M2 following a serious collision involving a pedestrian on the coastbound carriageway.
“The collision happened near Stockbury and Faversham.
“Police and other emergency services are at the scene and the coastbound carriageway is expected to remain closed for several hours.
“Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and are urged to check for travel updates on the Highways website.”
“All emergency services are on scene.”
One motorist who was stuck last night said: “We’ve been stuck here for hours with no updates. It’s freezing, and there’s no way to leave.”
